Longterm Goals

1. Seek psychological treatment for the child with an eating disorder.

2. Model positive, healthy attitudes about body image, eating habits, and exercise.

3. Resist detrimental cultural and media emphasis on idealized physical attractiveness and unrealistic male and female roles and relationships.

4. Support the child in long-term efforts to overcome the eating disorder.

5. Open the lines of communication and develop supportive, empathetic family relationships.
