Celebrate the Cycle of Life and Death Day of the Dead

It sometimes takes a bit of doing to get beyond our traditional aversion toward death. Day of the Dead is a terrific way to do it. Create an altar in your home. Place on it pictures of the person who has died, flowers, and candles. Talk about what good memories you have of that person and what he or she was like as a person. You can place a mirror on this altar in remembrance that we will all die someday. Google the recipe for sugar skulls! Buy wooden skeletons at a local craft store and decorate the skeleton like a person who has died and talk about the memories you have of that person. Visit the graves of loved ones to clean, sweep, and weed the area—and to tell stories about the person.
