Are you dialed in?

1 fwe can walk and chew gum at the same time, then we've got walking and talking on the phone down cold, right? Apparently, not so much. Researchers from Western Washington University compared cell-chatting walkers to people strolling alone, in pairs, or listening to iPods. Only 25 percent of the walking cell talkers noticed a unicycling clown nearby, compared to the 71 percent of the pairs who took note of the wacky sight! Cell-phone users also had trouble simply walking: They were slower, more prone to weaving, and rarely acknowledged other people. Yikes. If we have so much difficulty walking and talking on accli, let's not even think about driving while on the phone!
