Suppose your child just sent a thank-you card to his aunt for the birthday present he received. Use it as an opportunity to help your child recognize his aunt's feelings when she receives the card by having him pretend to be the recipient: "Pretend you're Aunt Helen right now.You open up your mailbox and find this card. How will you feel when you read the card?"
