"Try and make me!"
Dear Dr. Borba,
Our youngest son has always been difficult, but lately he's become an absolute nightmare. He's disobedient, debates everything, and usually refuses to do what we ask. We've tried everything to get him to shape up—grounding, rule charts, bribing—but nothing seems to work. Somehow he thinks he can call the shots in our house. Meanwhile, I feel as if I'm a contestant on one of those survival shows— and I'm losing! I can't believe I'm asking this, but what can I do to get my kid to obey?
Bad Attitude Act Out
"I'm not going to, Daddy, and you can't make me." "Why should I do what you want? "Yeah, right, as if I'd listen to you."
