Put Safety First

Whether on holiday or at home, for any parent or carer of children of any age, safety issues are of the utmost importance. Whether we worry about our teenagers engaging in risk-taking, the lack of forethought in our AD/HD children, the lack of awareness in our autistic children or the clumsiness of our dyspraxic children, nothing is surer than the fact that as parents.. .we worry!

I feel that I would be neglecting my duty to other parents and children if I didn't write separately about safety issues, particularly for children with autism, AD/HD, AS and dyspraxia. By illustrating the difficulties and dangers using examples of traumas that my own children have experienced, I may be able to play some part in raising awareness of safety issues surrounding children anywhere on the autistic spectrum.
